One of the biggest myths about Windows Azure is that it was created with only .NET developers in mind. The reality is that my team has helped multiple companies around the world implement cloud solutions using a variety of programming languages, including Java, PHP, Node.js and Python, among others. Also, it’s not difficult to find architectures taking advantage of multiple database engines, including MongoDB or Cassandra running on Linux distros. In order to share these experiences, and help cloud developers around the world design and implement similar solutions, we have created the Windows Azure OSS summits, with the first one taking place in Paris, France on December 4th, 2012. In case you are around, more information can be found here.
My good friend and colleague David Makogon will be co-presenting with me on different topics, including OSS programming techniques, best practices for data storage, and hybrid PaaS – IaaS architectures. Karandeep Anand – Principal Group Manager for Windows Azure – will be delivering the keynote, covering the latest and greatest on our cloud platform.
Stay tuned! a Windows Azure OSS Summit might be coming to a city near you soon.
